Tartaric Acid

A strong retarder in both cement and gypsum-based systems. Reacts with the mineral phases of the cement, forming calcium tartrate hydrate that blocks hydration. The L+ variety with anti-cake is highly soluble and free flowing, allowing easy dispersion in small dosages.
